At Ideal Spine and Rehab, our fully licensed physician guides your health team in a patient-centered, holistic approach to diagnosing and treating you.

Dr. Allen Houshiar, who earned a doctor of osteopathy degree, is certified by the American Academy of Family Medicine and the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California. He enjoys the same professional privileges as those who hold an MD; he can prescribe drugs, order tests and perform surgery.

Dr. Houshiar also is committed to the philosophy of physical medicine, which emphasizes the treatment of conditions that affect how you move. A physical medicine specialist looks not just at an illness, injury or condition, but at the person — and what that person needs to regain healthy function in everyday activities. The basic tenet of physical medicine practice is that you are the most important member of your treatment and health plan team.

The goal is to restore normal function and to reduce or eliminate pain for good.

Massage Therapy
If your treatment plan includes massage, our massage therapist will work under the direction of our medical staff to help you heal. A massage therapist applies pressure and gently moves skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and membranes surrounding muscle (fascia). This increases blood flow, reduces tension, stimulates nerves and stretches and loosens muscles.

Massage can ease neck, back and muscle pain. It can relieve tension and stress and some types of chronic pain. Our certified massage therapist uses the latest techniques to help reduce your pain and speed your healing.


	Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations On your first visit, one of our doctors will coordinate a comprehensive medical evaluation to identify the problem. This evaluation may include Strength tests Reflex tests X-rays, if needed Evaluation for additional imaging tests Evaluation of your neurological status Discussion of your medical history Routine check of vital signs such as temperature, pulse rate and blood pressure Your doctor will then create a treatment plan with our clinic specialists and coordinate your care with other physicians, if necessary.
